2 different subjects...I won't even say kinda.
Now what are these terrain textures without shaders? Are they terrain generators? That will account for differences in elevation (like hills) or what? And in the common folder i think it is, there's a texture CALLED Terrain (and Terrain2) I've seen the texture used on the mp_beach map, what's this for? I wouldn't mind know how to really texture my terrain, I'm using the plain old, GRASS texture right now, it kinda...well, it sucks.
Also, how would I get my barbed wire models to HURT people =).

Most of us are using easygen to make terrain. It is a seperate progy that makes the terrain and imports it into radient. The terrain texture in the common folder (as seen on the beach) is the default texture that radient puts down in the editor. The actual textures rendered in the compiled map come from the metashader and the pcx file so one texture is blended into the one beside it.
I know this sounds confusing and terrain can be hard to work with. Here is a great tut and links to the tools http://www.planetpointy.com/wolf/mapping.shtml
