im gonna have to pay my 10yr old £10 (dam kids)to test the tut to see if its understandable (hes just started mappin an i want to see if i now waffle in incomprehensible gobbledegook like all the other tuts when u first start.)
ive tried to make it newbie friendly (especialy with the naming of the triggers, as this was where i always got confused)
script_mover_sherman also has the plane bomb run in it (altho ive not done a tut on it yet but its there to cut an paste or study

That discussion you started at Gerbil's forum should have all sorts of wonderful repercussions, maybe even working alarm boxes now! Can't wait to play with your tanks! Thanks!

Good Day All!
Tanks? Iv been playing around with making tanks, as a need a few for my next map.
This example was my first attempt at making a texture, so it’s a little rough. The main texture was split into eight smaller textures so it could be put on the model. The texture has to be made to fit the model, which is a lot easier said than done. It took about 3 hours to make the texture using acrylic paint and polychrome pencils.
I have found that over-laying different shades of colour is best, if there is too little difference between colour the detail is lost when the image is changed to tga.

The sherman is a very complex object to make in rad'. I find german tanks alot easier to make.
Found this site a big help as well as they have plan drawings of most if the main tanks used.

It’s a brush model. If you want I can send you the .map and textures so you can see how the model has been split up to allow the textures to be fitted. Send me a mail and I’ll send the zip over.
Iv visited Bovington this week and have come away with tones of pics of bits of tank (mostly their tiger).
Iv now got some good images to make textures from, so my next tank should look a lot better.
Iv not perfected the technique yet.
But the basics are, make your model in rad’ and get some graft/grid paper. Draw all the surfaces the same size as they appear on the grid in rad’.
The example below is what I had to make the above texture.
http://homepage.ntlworld.com/tina.smith8/tankthree.jpg
Copy this on to card or cartridge paper (better for painting and when the image is scanned light won’t reflect back through the paper distorting the colours).
The textures are made just as if you were painting a plastic model, the only difference is you have to draw the detail.
The paints I use are model paints by Humbrol (thinned downed a lot) and Tamiya.
The detail was done with a .01 and .05 drawing pens and the shading on the detail was done using polychrome pencils. These are available from most good art suppliers they are a lot harder that normal pencils and have a very strong colour. They can also be used over the paint, one problem with them, there not cheap, £3 to £4 each for the ones I use.
The hardest thing in this is to get a good texture, if you have areas of flat colour on your texture it wont look good, if you look at my texture all the colours have a mottled finish. Have a look at a few sites for plastic model making, if any have gides on model making look up dry-brushing and mottling. Cartridge paper has a rough surface so getting a good finsh with these methords is quiet ease. A littel practice can go a long way here.
Have a look at how the textures for the vechals in RTCW have been done.
Have fun.
