how do you remove a texture completely?
I'm experimenting with the "props_snowgenerator"... it worked at first... although, it gave little greyish puffs aswell... I was trying to figure out how to get rid of those puffs... but in the process, the snow generator quit working... when it was working, the brush wouldn't clip... I could move freely but, now... it doesn't matter what I do, the brush clips and I'm stuck at my spawnpoint and no snow..
when I created the brush, is used my last used texture, a sky texture... and seemed to work fine... but then I changed it it to caulk...
I guess my real question is, how do you create a completely non-clipping brush that'll still draw? Has to draw in order to snow...

Well there are a slew of "common" textures to experiment with but getting stuck at the spawn point reminds me of a wasted day I spent recently *G* seems that the player's height is taller than 73 initially??? Was trying to get him to spawn inside the back of a truck model *LOL*
How low is this snow-generator and are you using Rumble's snow example map by any chanbce?
(Actually an example map of your own might be easier, we would know what you are facing without trying to guess from the description?)

well, the map was setup like this:
Created 2 large brushes. Hollowed them both them fit them together to create to large boxes, one on top of the other... the deleted the floor in the top one and the ceiling in the bottom one.. (walls and sky....etc..)
I took another brush and completely filled in the interior... right clicked and props -> props_snowGenerator... put in an info_notnull and the targeted my snowgenerator to that.. (gives the snow direction)...
like I said, it worked at first... I got my snow and was able to move around and stuff... but on top of the little white points of snow, I got these other greyish puffs wandering around too... which didn't look quit right, when I tried to see what I could do to fix it, it all stopped working... I even did it all over again, and nothing... so, that is now my problem... but I think its related to getting stuck at my spawn point.. but I'm not sure.. I tried posistioning the brush differently, but that hasn't worked either..
do you know where I can find this "Snow Example" by Rumble? that might help me figure out what I'm doing wrong..
I will post a link later to the map file you can download to see just exactly what i did... it's nothing major, just an experiment map... to see if I could get (fog or snow) to work.. but maybe you could help me out..

Lo dudes!
I'm fairly new to mapping, so here are the questions!
Is there a way to let it snow in a map?
How can i get a rorating searchlight, like in some of the SP maps?
How do i create a lift?
How can i have an aircraft circle around in the sky in my map?
Maybe easy questions for u experienced guys, but not for me
Thx alot in advance!!

A snow generator will make it snow after it is set up correctly. I've set them up wrong before.
There should be a tut here somewhere for the spotlight.
Depends on if the lift is supposed to be button activated and if this is a SP or a MP map. They get set up differently.
I think the airplane has to be done with script_movers and this will be a pain to do.

It was easier to show than tell.
Hit this site and in the files section is a file called snow. It is a map and a .bsp of the snow generator with a readme.

Fantastic, extracted it to Main/maps, works like a dream, love the puffs, now I've got to try with architecture, could I put a statue etc in the middle, or should I build it around stuff ie not inside a big cube I remember a posting about FOG limits, if I remember correctly, one brush only

Go ahead and put something in there. If it looks crappy or doesn't work then you were right. I dunno, I never tried it but remember the sub level. It was snowing on the boxes so they had to be brushes inside the snow brush. I think that is the way it works. It snows inside the brush. So the bigger the brush, the more snow in an area. Bet you didn't think it could snow in a room huh?
