--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

I added some ambient sounds into my map, and my map wont even load. The error message says that "soandso.wav have length 0"

What can this be?? The sound plays fine, and it is a wav file. What am I doing wrong???

Thanks

I don't know of any bulletproof methods. Some work, some don't.

Better to track down the actually root used to activate sound file then duplicate file in pk3.

If the sound is a world sound like drip or wind sounds you might as well copy & paste it from escape1.map or ???

If the sound is triggered/targeted you need to trial & error it in a test map, because a map can compile but then be unplayable if everything doesn't connect right.

Anyone know of a great tut for this?

If you are making a SP there is a whole nother aspect to scripting ai talk?

Which sounds are you trying to use, exact error message is VERY important. Maybe looping isn't check or enabled??

What else am I missing? *G*

Well, like you said...some sounds work, some dont. Why its not consistant is what pisses me off.....the sounds Im using are custom sounds, some downloaded from the web. A few work, one that I really want doesnt. Just an annoying thing I guess. Maybe it has to do with kilohertz sampling of the wav??? I dunno...how do you change it if you are on a PC??

i'm sure you can convert it with any sound editing tool - i prefer cooledit, trial version can be found for sure. if you have a soundblaster soundcard you possibly have the wave studio which can do that as well - as far as i remember, didn't see this prog for 8 years or so but i think it could do that...

I feel like I've had a lobotomy with that missing inbetween surface forum. There was a great tut somewhere on creating your own sounds to be used, where where where? (scratches hole in head) Tram?

And yes Muffinman, once again MaximumPC mag came to the rescue, the shareware app FlashGet works! Lost server at 50% FlashGet resumed download after I finally managed to get Earthlink to sign on again grrr AND downloaded the rest!

Already had 1.2.10 but am still trying to figure which q3map to use and what changes to make to shader list *LOL*

Since quake3 requires a 22k 16bit stereo .wav file, I assume RTCW does the same.
