really dang i think ive been there before never saw a nice ladder texture when i apply a ladder texture it look like i did the back to

there's only this one alpha-texture set. if you don't like these you can make one yourself (there's a tutorial on making alpha textures) or you make one out of brushes which IMHO looks better anyways and put a ladder brush over it.

Making a ladder from brushes does look better but adds more faces for the engine to render. In my battleship map I first made all the railings with brushes then changed them all to alpha textures and saw a huge difference in r speeds.
