Good Day All
First off, good work on the arch tutorial Muffin.

As some of you may have noticed, Iv been having some fun with arches my self.
Iv been working with “simple patch meshes”, 3 x 3 in size for the most part.
Now Iv seen something useful, as Iv been making arches you sometimes get two patches that don’t line up along the vertices.
See pic one

Now the wacky bit, when I joined the miss aligned “simple patch meshes” with another, they re-align the verts, I didn’t touch nothing, sometimes all Iv had to do is select the two unaligned “simple patch meshes” and they line up, just like that.

Iv now managed to have a total of 36 aches within an arch, with all the verts aligning them selves and no sparkly lines in the end map.

When I first started messing around with arches using bevels and meshes I could not get them to line up right five times out of ten. Now I’m using the simple patch mesh for all curved surfaces in the arch its got really very easy, or has my radiant developed a user friendly bug (nah that’ll never happen).
Iv been experimenting with different types and stiles and so far all the ones Iv made work.
Anyone else tried this?

And I see you've made your own texture for caulk hulling. Interesting idea...

It makes life so much eaiser, but it has to be removed before compiling

and! i'll be back soon with another, more interesting tutorial just have to think of something now <g>

You've just confused me. So, assuming I understood correctly: The arches themselves are patches, but the cieling is made of brushes, which it doesn't quite look like at first glance. Oh well, none of my levels call for that so I should be fine. :)

what i am interested in: how do u make these arches that go diagonal from one corner to the middle, i always have hardest problems to make something that has this direction and isn't just a plain brush... could u make some tutorial on how to make the ceiling? ;o) (oh and excuse me i couldn't make myself more understandable as i don't know the proper words...)

Its not been ease, Iv been trying for a while to do this.
I will do a tutorial on this, might be in a few days or so, my head still hurts from working it out me self.
Hmmm, need a bigger ice pack.
They are all 3x3 simple patch mesh, but getting them alined is a right *#@*!
